About, how to use & limitations

About WebP to JPG

Convert WebP to JPG online when an image saved from a website will not open in your editor, upload form, or older software. JPG is supported almost everywhere, which makes it the safest choice for sharing photos. This tool converts WebP images to JPG in your browser, with a quality slider from 10% to 100% to control file size. Transparent areas in the WebP are filled with white, since JPG has no transparency. You can convert up to 20 WebP files at once, compare the original and new file sizes, and download each JPG individually or all at once as a ZIP.

How to use

  1. Click the "Drop WebP files here" area or drag WebP files onto it. Files you add later join the list, up to 20.
  2. Adjust the Quality slider (10-100%, default 90%) to balance JPG file size against image detail; the listed files are converted again with the new setting.
  3. Wait for "Converting X / Y..." to finish, then check each file's original size, new size, and percentage change.
  4. Click Download next to each converted JPG file to save it, or click Download all to get every file in one ZIP.
  5. Click ✕ on a row to remove that file, or CLEAR to empty the list.

Limitations & notes

  • New files are added to the list rather than replacing it; the list holds up to 20 files and any extras are skipped.
  • Changing Quality re-converts the files already in the list; the old results are dimmed and cannot be downloaded until it finishes.
  • JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.
  • Animated images are converted as a single still frame.
  • Files that are not WebP, whether picked or dropped, are skipped and named in a notice.

FAQ

Why convert WebP to JPG?
Many websites serve images as WebP, but some older programs, upload forms, and print services still only accept JPG. Converting makes the image usable almost anywhere.
Does converting WebP to JPG lose quality?
JPG is lossy, so the image is compressed again and a little detail may be lost. At the default 90% quality the difference is usually hard to see.
What happens to a transparent WebP background?
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Use WebP to PNG if you need to keep transparency.
Can I convert animated WebP files?
Only a single frame is saved, because JPG cannot store animation.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser using the HTML canvas, and the converted file is created on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
