About, how to use & limitations

About PNG to JPG

Convert PNG to JPG online when you need smaller files or a format that every app, email client, and upload form accepts. JPG compresses photos and screenshots with many colors far more efficiently than PNG, so the converted files are usually much lighter. This tool converts PNG images to JPG in your browser, with a quality slider from 10% to 100%. Because JPG has no transparency, transparent areas are filled with white instead of turning black. You can convert up to 20 PNG files at once and compare the original and new size of each before downloading.

How to use

  1. Click the "Drop PNG files here" area or drag PNG files onto it. Files you add later join the list, up to 20.
  2. Adjust the Quality slider (10-100%, default 90%) to balance JPG file size against image detail; the listed files are converted again with the new setting.
  3. Wait for "Converting X / Y..." to finish, then check each file's original size, new size, and percentage change.
  4. Click Download next to each converted JPG file to save it, or click Download all to get every file in one ZIP.
  5. Click ✕ on a row to remove that file, or CLEAR to empty the list.

Limitations & notes

  • New files are added to the list rather than replacing it; the list holds up to 20 files and any extras are skipped.
  • Changing Quality re-converts the files already in the list; the old results are dimmed and cannot be downloaded until it finishes.
  • JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.
  • Files that are not PNG, whether picked or dropped, are skipped and named in a notice.
  • Images over about 16,000 pixels per side show an "Image too large" error; some phones have a lower limit.

FAQ

Does converting PNG to JPG lose quality?
Yes, slightly. JPG is a lossy format, so some detail is discarded during compression. At the default 90% quality the loss is usually hard to notice in photos, but sharp text and line art can show artifacts.
Why is the transparency lost?
JPG does not support transparent pixels. This tool fills transparent areas with white so they do not turn black; use PNG to WebP if you need to keep transparency.
Why is my JPG larger than the PNG?
Small, flat-color images such as icons or simple graphics can compress better as PNG. JPG mainly saves space on photos and images with many colors.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes. Drop or select several files; files you add later join the list instead of replacing it, up to 20 in total. Each one gets its own Download button and a ✕ to remove it, and Download all saves them together as one ZIP. Files beyond 20 are skipped and a notice says how many.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser using the HTML canvas, and the converted file is created on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
